Christianity Connection Monthly, Issue #001 September 06, 2008 |
Greetings,What's New!Well as you can see from my site I have been doing some construction on look and feel as I am working towards finding my niche. In the coming months I will be adding to and maybe taking away bits and pieces of my site that I feel either are or are not working. One of the most recent additions to my site is the new "share this page" section. I am asking that if you use any of the selected sites that you please share my page, there by helping me reach more and more people and increase the visitors to my site who might not otherwise know about or visit a Christian Based website. Also I am looking forward to many more new and exciting modifications as the site grows and as we get closer to election time.Election 08'The RNC wrapped up it's convention this week as we are approaching the November election. As always there was an array of topics covered including the most anticipated of the week, the nomination of Gov. Sarah Palin as the Republican Vice-Presidential candidate. A relative unknown to most of the party Gov. Palin is renowned as a reformer in her home state. In just a short political career as Gov, Palin has managed to shake the government of Alaska to the core, including going against her own party that she saw as corrupt. She pulled off a well presented speech on Wed. night which has been hailed as the best of the week. Some are saying even better than Sen. John McCain's acceptance speech. She received a standing ovation and rousing applause when she said, "Do you know what the difference is between a pit-bull and a hockey mom? A hockey mom wears lipstick!" Also in her speech were well placed but not subtle jabs at Democratic nominee Barack Obama. Well I think everyone can agree John McCain has found his pit-bull.The week started off a little rocky as Hurricane Gustav made landfall on Mon. The RNC post-poned most of the opening ceremonies to keep an eye on what was happening in the Gulf region. Thankfully Gustav lost a lot of its punch before coming ashore drastically reducing the damage that could have came as a result of a hurricane. On Tues. the convention was in full swing and the party was on. With speeches from President Bush and others the convention was back on track. Wrapping up with John McCain's acceptance speech that was a very good speech in it's own right. Meanwhile during the RNC Democratic nominee Barack Obama was on the campaign trail delivering his message to the people that we need to have change and that change needs to begin with putting a Democrat back in the White House. Now that both conventions are over it is time for the "gloves to come off" so to speak. Debates for Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates are scheduled. The party is over and it is time to get to work getting the message out to the American people of why each respective nominee thinks he will make a better President for all of us.
My ChurchAt my church which happens to be the Evanston Wesleyan Church in Indianapolis, Indiana there are many things going on, not only on Sun. when we have Sunday School and Morning Worship with an informal meeting that evening at our Pastor's home, but also on Wed. night when there is something for everyone. Kid's Corner is for the younger kids to have a place to learn about God and have some fun, Teens is where our young people have a service just for them focusing on an atmosphere that is very teen friendly, and once again an Adult Meeting at the home of the Pastor. If that doesn't seem to be your cup of tea, we also have a Men's Group that meets at the home of one our congregation members.I would like this section to grow with your help. Please feel free to send in info about your church and I will gladly include it in my News Letter each month. Prayer of the MonthThis is an awesome prayer.Believe it and you shall be blessed. The problem with many of us is that we don't believe that God will open a window and pour out blessings that we won't have room to receive them. I dare anyone to try God. He is true to His word. God cannot lie and His promises are sure. Three things will happen to you this coming week: (1) You will find favor with someone you don't expect; (2) You will be too relevant to be ignored; (3) You will encounter God and you will never remain the same again. My prayer for you today: The eyes beholding this message shall not behold evil, the hands that will send this message to others shall not labor in vain, the mouth saying Amen to this prayer shall laugh forever. Remain in God's love as you send this prayer to everybody on your list. Have a lovely journey of life! Trust in the Lord with all your heart and He will never fail you because He is AWESOME! If you truly need a blessing, continue reading this email: Heavenly Father, most Gracious and Loving God, I pray to you that you abundantly bless my family and me. I know that you recognize, that a family is more than just a mother, father, sister, brother, husband and wife, but all who believe and trust in you. Father, I send up a prayer request for blessings for not only the person who sent this to me, but for me and all that I have forwarded this message on to. And that the power of joined prayer by those who believe and trust in you is more powerful than anything. I thank you in advance for your blessings. Father God, deliver the person reading this right now from debt and debt's burdens. Release your Godly wisdom that I may be a good steward over all that You have given me Father, for I know how wonderful and mighty you are and how if we just obey you and walk In your word and have the faith of a mustard seed that you will pour out blessings. I thank you now Lord for the recent blessings I have received and for the blessings yet to come because I know you are not done with me yet. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen. TAKE 60 SECONDS and send this on quickly and within hours, you will have caused a multitude of people to pray to God for each other. Then sit back and watch the power of God work in your life for doing the thing that you know He loves. Remain Blessed!!! The best and most beautiful things are not seen or heard, but felt with the heart! Message from the editorI hope you have enjoyed this News Letter and I look forward to doing a new one each month.
